Welcome to the National Hip Fracture Database (NHFD)
The NHFD is a national clinical audit project commissioned by the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP) and managed by the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) as part of the Falls and Fragility Fracture Audit Programme (FFFAP). It was established in 2007 as a joint venture of the British Geriatrics Society (BGS) and the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA), and is designed to facilitate improvements in the quality and cost effectiveness of hip fracture care.
It allows care to be audited against the six evidence-based standards set out in the BOA/BGS Blue Book on the care of patients with fragility fracture; and enables local health economies to benchmark their performance in hip fracture care against national data.
